Christian Marti – the man who (almost) never stops running
He’s 73, has run over 600 marathons – and of course, he’s also been a regular guest at our event in Brugg: Christian Marti. Endurance runner, race organizer, motivator – and a living legend of the Swiss running scene.
Just recently, Fit for Life published a feature about him: On April 28, exactly 40 years after his very first marathon in Zurich, Christian completed his 600th marathon – in true Marti-style, with his own self-organized “Sechseläuten Marathon” in Zurich. If you know Christian, you know: he doesn’t just run – he lives running. Eleven consecutive days of organizing races? No problem. Marathons on five continents? Done. Next goal? “Run as long as I can.”
We met him again at the Backyard Race in Witikon. And as always, there was that spark in his eyes when he said to us with a wink: “Beat Knechtle is a big inspiration to me. But careful – he’s already run 500 marathons. He might catch up with me soon!” Dear Christian – from all of us at the Laufwochenende Brugg Committee: we tip our hats to you. For your humour. Your dedication. Your unstoppable passion.
We look forward to many more encounters with you – ideally out on our course 😃
